Job DescriptionKelly Services has an opening in Clyde, NY for a Test Stand Specialist (Maintenance Technician) working in the aerospace industry.Position Summary: Position focuses on the improvement, and maintenance of liquid and air flow test systems. Ensures maximum cost effectiveness and reliability of processes that utilize flow test systems. Improve current flow test systems, ensuring that products and processes meet customer quality requirements. Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain all flow stands. Responsibilities: Following established procedures; responsibilities may include some or all of the following:   o Responsible for tracking and scheduling calibrations for the following: Designated Flow Standard Sets, Master Temperature Standards, Master Barometers, and Master Sonic Orifices used to test product. o Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment; includes all hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic, servo controlled and computer based systems. o Evaluates current flow test system issues on the floor by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of system design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from operators/production technicians. o Develops and improves flow test systems and fixturing by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing equipment; and conferring with equipment suppliers. o Applies knowledge of test stand systems to create and improve test stand set up, technology, safety, and ease of use of test stands throughout facility o Evaluates and suggests improvements to safety and ergonomic issues encountered at flow test systems. o Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements. Determines root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods. o Recommends changes to refine and enhance flow test systems by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques. o Provide concurrent engineering support and recommend improvements manufacturing methods at flow test systems to the manufacturing engineering team. o Provide support to keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, and requesting special service. o Interfaces with multi-disciplined teams to improve and implement new flow test system technologies. o Create flow test systems best practices and guidelines with input from engineering and operators. o Follow technical instructions and read manufacturing drawings. o Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and/or participating in professional associations. o Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements (e.g. environmental, safety, etc.) by studying existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. o Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents the Company on specific projects. Mentors new employees. o Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. o All other duties assigned by management.RequirementsMinimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: o Two Year Technical Degree or 5-7 years of related experience desired. o Fundamental knowledge of liquid and air flow test system principles and concepts and general business operations. o Experience with electrical circuit design and troubleshooting. o Must be able to read, interpret, and create hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematic drawings. o Must be able to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. o Ability to choose proper PLC components. o Ability to write and trouble shoot PLC programming. o Knowledge of manufacturing principles. o General knowledge of aerospace industry or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing environment. o Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures. o Due to the Company-s military contractor status, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States, and must provide evidence of citizenship or immigration status upon applying for the position. o Urine drug test and background screen required before start.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities o Creative, self-lead individual who demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and is able to give technical instructions to other facets of the business. o Ability to lead and mentor other technicians. o Possesses interpersonal skills suitable for frequent interface with all levels of the organization. o Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management. o Ability to research and analyze data and develop recommendations or resolve problems. o Ability to work on a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact. o Ability to work with only general work direction and instructions regarding the scope of assignments, determine priority and order of assignments. o Ability to create detailed task lists with timelines and work to a project schedule. o Ability to participate in a multi-disciplinary team. o Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from team members, team leaders, customers, and regulatory agencies. o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. o Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities. Typical Mental and Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, climb and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.
