We currently have an exciting contract opportunity for a Machinist  with a medical device manufacturing company located in Irvine, CA.   Work schedule will be Monday – Friday,  1st Shift, 8:00AM -5:00PM with possible OT   Pay rate is based on experience, however range is $25-$35 /hour.   JOB DETAILS   ** Contract to hire. ** • Fabricate tooling at the direction of engineering staff  • Produces machine parts required for construction of mechanical assemblies for prototypes and pilot production units.  • Plans methods and sequences of machines, taking into consideration factors such as characteristics of various metals, the effect of heat treating etc  • Lays out parts for successive machining operations, performs complicated set-ups, improvises tooling when standard tooling cannot be utilized and determines machine speeds and feeds.  • Assist in design discussions of engineering and test tooling, fixtures and equipment.  • Reworks production parts and/or oversees the rework by assemblers, and performs emergency rework and/or modification of production parts.  • Modifies existing machinery and processes  • Inspects prototypes and machining and machines prototype fixtures and First Article Inspection components.  • Uses blueprints and sketches to determine proper methods and processes.  • Designs and constructs jigs, fixtures, and parts with minimal technical input through completion.  • Analyzes and executes methods to lower production machine parts costs by in-house fabrication.  • Maintains machine shop equipment to ensure the tolerances of precision machining.  • Maintains records of repair, replacement, and inventory.  • Supports the engineering function and engineering projects as necessary.  • Participates in team decision making, and develops team problem solving and communication skills.  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.  BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  6+ years machinist experience  REQUIRED EDUCATION:  • High school diploma or equivalent.  • In addition, a two (2) year apprenticeship or technical education is preferred.  REQUIRED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:  6+ years of maintenance/machining experience, including machine shop experience, technical educational experience, or apprenticeship.  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Needs to be objective and relevant  • Demonstrates a high degree of proficiency in the set-up, operation, and care of special machine tools, such as lathes, mills, drills, jigs, grinders, and fixtures.  • Working knowledge of machinery components.  • Ability to set-up and operate special machine tools, shop machines, and power tools.  • Effective skills in blueprint reading/drafting standards  • Effective oral and written communication skills.  • Basic reading and math  • Analytical skills  • Reading engineering drawings  • Knowledge of various manufacturing and assembly processes  • Recognize problems and take corrective measures  PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:  • Standing  • Sitting  • Walking  • Stairs  • Stooping or bending  • Driving  • Light to moderate lifting  • Pushing, pulling or carrying  • Manual dexterity  • Eye/hand coordination  • Looking through Microscope  • Direct exposure to health and safety hazards associated with production materials and equipment   Why Kelly®?
