Kelly Services is hiring an Apprentice Instrument Tech to work in the Ballwin MO! First shift! 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Monday - Friday! GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Performs highly skilled precision work in development and assembly of a wide variety of medical instruments engineers with project planning and translates concepts and ideas into formally designed working models. Requires the use of considerable capability, inventiveness, mechanical ingenuity, and creative ability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Assembler will have the following responsibilities: Manufactures and assembles instruments using a microscope according to procedures, work instructions and drawings. Participates as an active member of the production team, and demonstrates a high level of commitment to the Value Stream. Records the manufacture and assembly of Value Stream products on required manufacturing records. Performs product inspection and testing of Value Stream products in accordance with procedures, work instructions and drawings. Performs Value Stream product validation activities as needed. Supports the Value Stream goals and diligently strives to achieve the goals of the team with a positive attitude. Assists in the establishment and update of quality system documentation relevant to the Value Stream as needed. Conduct work in a safe manner and follow Good Manufacturing Practices. Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned QUALTIFCATIONS 1-5 years in manufacturing environment, medical device industry preferred. High school education or GED preferred. Experience working under a microscope Experience working with different metals, such as stainless steel, titanium, aluminum Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints. Understanding of ISO 9001/ISO 13485 preferred. Demonstrated ability to utilize precision measuring devices such as micrometer and caliper. Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment to achieve goals. Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards. Experience in Lean practices and principles are a plus. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with other employees of the organization. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Adaptability to use tools at hand to make instruments. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Under direction where a definite objective is set up and the employee plans and arranges own work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor. PLANNING Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees, all performing basically the same type of work. DECISION MAKING Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the organization's clientele. MENTAL DEMAND Close mental demand. Operations requiring close and continuous attention for control of operations. Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization's administration and operations; also to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved. USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS Regular use of complex machines and equipment EMPLOYEE CONTACT Contacts with other departments or offices and also frequently with individuals in middle level positions; consulting on problems which necessitate judgment and tact in presentation to obtain cooperation or approval of action to be taken.
