Quality Systems Manager— San Fernando Valley, CA
The Quality Systems Manager will oversee the following areas:
Manage and assume responsibility for all aspects of the QC Department, including department supplies, cleanliness and organization.
Take responsibility for the quality of all products sold from facilities.
Determine (and develop, if necessary) specifications, test methodology, process critical points, sampling protocols, sanitation procedures, etc., to ensure a controlled and consistent process.
Risk analysis, verification and validation activities of Food Safety program, including review and creation of related documents to assure compliance with state and federal regulations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Documentation
Work closely with the Document Team to maintain, create, and review company policies and procedures and train employees on those documents as needed.
Be familiar and involved with HACCP and HACCP test records, process control records, lab test data records, COAs from suppliers, finished product COAs issued to customers, computer storage and protection of QC records.

cGMP/Food Safety Training for all applicable employees
Allergenic handling training
Sanitation
Sanitation of plants and process equipment
Pest control management
Food Safety/HACCP
Product Traceability & Recall/Market Withdrawals
Hold Plan: control of non-conforming or in-test material
Allergen ingredients and allergen-containing finished products
Chemical Control
Foreign material detection and exclusion from products
Corrective Actions, Preventive Actions and Continuous Improvements
Environmental issues
Crisis management
Food defense and security
Audits
Prepare for and respond to internal, 3rd party, and regulatory agency audits.
Conduct new supplier audits and approvals, troubleshooting the process.
Conduct periodic GMP/sanitation audits of the facilities.
Develop and assure the execution of related corrective-action plans for all audits.
Supervise product labeling to comply with state and federal regulations.
Participate in and supervise organoleptic testing.
Assist with R & D projects, new product trial runs, and production scale-ups.
Assist with selection of new plant equipment, installation and validation.
Represent the company at professional societies, trade shows, and meetings with customer suppliers and regulatory agencies, etc.
Take responsibility for investigating, resolving and reporting on customer complaints due to product quality issues; communicate with customers regarding same.
Lead the development and implementation of Food Safety Fundamentals and the Food Safety Plan as outlined in the SQF Code.
Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF Code; take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF Code.
Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF Code.
Job Requirements:
BS or BA in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or other science discipline.
Minimum of five years of experience in quality control management.
SQF practitioner, or equivalent experience with SQF 2000 or other GFSI certification scheme.
Physically able to move about in a production and lab environment.
Must have visual acuity to evaluate sample appearance and use lab instruments.
Must demonstrate taste and aroma sense acuity.
Must have a valid Class C California Driver License, with a good driving record and automobile insurance limits that fulfill company requirements.
Must report to any AFF facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.
