Job DescriptionThe Insurance Data Entry Specialist understands insurance documentation related to patients and industry. (i.e. insurance card reading, identification of primary and secondary insurance, and subscriber identification) They must have meticulous data entry skills with the ability to accurately enter information into the system software. They must be a critical thinker and on the alert for information that is erroneous or inconsistent with the information that he/she received concerning the patient. Ability to speak clearly and concise when speaking with clients and/or patients. Must have the ability to clearly document research and follow up on outstanding information and issues. The Insurance Technician will also assist with patient balance follow-up.- Insurance Registration: Register patients insurance and subscriber information in the appropriate LIS system under the correct patient accessioning record. Second QA of patient data.- Clearly communicate with physicians- office(s) and/or patients when additional information is needed- Billing Reports: Work billing reports daily.- Clearinghouse: Work clearing house rejections to facilitate claim filing.- EOB Posting- Patient balance follow-up- Daily Filing/ Bulk Filing- Special Projects as assigned.- Serve as backup and coverage in other areas as needed Essential Skills- Excellent computer skills: data entry, excel, and word processing (mail merge, sorts, pivots)- Accurate Typing skills: Minimum 60 wpm or greater- A working knowledge of health insurance plans: how to read a laboratory requisition, insurance cards, and rules for identifying primary, secondary, supplemental, and replacement coverage.- English grammar and punctuation skills- A working knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology/ Medical terminology- Good listening skills- Understanding of legal and ethical issues concerning patient confidentiality (HIPAA)- Detailed and organized.Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent- Certified Coder (preferred)- Medical Office Experience (patient registration/ insurance verification preferred)- ICD-10 (Required) Why Kelly®?At Kelly Services®, we work with the best.
