YOUR PURPOSE AND FUNCTION IN OUR COMPANY:
Alleviate the impact of adversity during challenging life events by the prompt investigation and resolution of claims.

KEY CAPABILITIES FOR SUCCESS:
  • Supports and contributes to the Claims Department and Company’s missions, visions, values, and goals.
  • Handles claims of increasing levels of severity and complexity.
  • Evaluates files for the accurate and timely reserving of claims with an increased emphasis on the Preferred Mutual reserving philosophy.
  • Contributes to and improves on the operational efficiencies of the department.
  • Displays higher levels of acumen regarding indemnity and loss expenses.
  • Conducts thorough, accurate and timely investigation to determine liability and claim valuation.
  • Readily identifies avenues of contribution and recovery by third parties and takes appropriate action.
  • Treats customers in a proactive and responsible manner.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of products and coverages offered by Preferred Mutual.
  • Resolves claims proactively and fairly in a manner that is reflective of coverage, liability and damages.
  • Understands and educates others on claim procedures and file administration for proper file documentation and claim reporting.
  • Consistently meets file quality standards as determined by internal and external audits.
  • Actively works to combat fraud and readily identifies scenarios or trends where fraud is not prevalent.
  • Maintains work load in accordance with Key Performance Driver standards.
  • Identifies key data points and recognizes their impact on vital reporting functions while leveraging the data to make informed decisions and reach better claim resolutions.
  • Adjusts schedule as needed to accommodate customer needs and/or fluctuations in work volume.
  • Recognizes team challenges and provides solutions.
  • Leverages technology as a critical component in achieving efficiencies and delivering superior customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-4 years of related work experience, or related and equivalent work experience.
  • Completion of professional development coursework (i.e., AIC, CPCU, SCLA).
  • Exceptional active listening skills paired with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Makes timely, definitive, and fact driven decisions.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Deliver superior customer service while exuding professionalism and empathy.
  • Strong time and project management skills utilized to promote continued process improvement.
  • Ability to influence critical goals and objectives of the department.
  • Intermediate skills in the areas of collaboration, group decision making, problem solving and negotiation.
  • Pursues duties and interactions with absolute integrity.
  • Enhanced proficiency in technology platforms utilized by Preferred Mutual (including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet-based applications).
  • Advanced proficiency in various PC based data input methods (including but not limited to keyboarding, cutting and pasting, and voice to text).
