Job Requirements
  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field and/or 5-10 years of work experience in a related field
  • Must have OEM safety experience, (GM safety experience preferred)
  • Experience working with union and non-union employees
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), MIOSHA and/or regulatory agency regulations and environmental laws, including construction safety guidelines, fire prevention methods and risk management techniques
  • Flexibility to first or second shift when needed
  • MUST be willing to work two weekends per month
  • OSHA 500/510 certifications REQUIRED
  • Incident investigation experience a PLUS
  • OSHA 30-HR training a PLUS
  • Experience in environmental safety a PLUS
  • CPR training a PLUS
  • Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) a PLUS
  • Health Safety Technician (CHST) a PLUS
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) a PLUS
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide appropriate safety and health, accident prevention, and investigation training for managers and supervisors
  • Work with OSHA and MIOSHA and other pertinent federal and state regulatory agencies
  • Assist management in the inspection of work sites to assure safe and healthful conditions for workers. Prepare appropriate notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards
  • Assist management and supervisors in investigating accidents and developing measures to prevent recurrences
  • Work with and educate employees regarding safe work practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer and Microsoft Office skills
