PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The role of the Learning Center Instructor is to: (1) provide remediation and enrichment tutoring to elementary, middle, and high school aged youth (geometry, calculus and statistics), (2) develop age and ability appropriate curriculum and supervise Learning Center programming, (3) provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence, and (4) assist students in adhering to the policies of the Learning Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, A.A degree
- Ability to tutor STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subjects up to Grade 12
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and databases
- Maintain a non-judgmental attitude toward families – bilingual proficiency preferred, but not required.
- Ability to affirm and promote the philosophies, policies and goals of the agency, together with the ability to apply these positively and constructively in the performance of duties.
- Must have skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse backgrounds
- Maintain required licenses and certifications to perform role the essential elements of the job.
- Able to work as a team member.
- Able to develop respectful and cooperative relationships with supervisor and peers.
- Able to represent the agency professionally and appropriately with all constituencies.
