POSITION PURPOSE
We are looking for a Lead Driver to help with the orientation and training of new drivers coming into the Interline Brands, Inc. delivery environment. All applicants for this position must meet the following criteria:

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • The lead driver must set high standards and expectations of himself/herself in all facets of daily operations of the driver capacity.
  • Attendance and punctuality must be as close to 100% as possible following all call-in procedures to the letter.
  • Appearance and grooming must be outstanding so that other employees will follow the example set by the Lead employee and Management team.
  • Attitude and professionalism must demonstrate the utmost respect toward the individuals he works with on and off the road.
  • The Lead driver will provide continuous feedback to the Transportation Manager to improve local operations and performance.
  • He/She must have an outstanding safety record both operating a vehicle and avoiding bodily injury.
  • During the AM sort the Lead driver will expeditiously load his/her truck using the one-touch methods per carton. If asked to assist a fellow driver or handler he/she will do so and then resume loading their vehicle.
  • The Lead driver will have outstanding scan compliance and record keeping, and constantly strive to improve in those areas where he is not 100% compliant.
  • The Lead driver will have outstanding customer service skills and look for ways to resolve customer concerns immediately and permanently.
  • The Lead driver will lead the terminal in On-road productivity. He/She will perform daily to route Stop per hour goals set by the Transportation Manager He/She must also look for ways to improve productivity in the area he/she runs.
  • The Lead driver will follow PM check-in procedures and clock out within 15 minutes of return to building, unless he/she is requested by Warehouse personnel or a Safety Specialist to perform some other function (ie. Hotshots or assisting in Warehouse).
  • The Lead driver will assist in new hire orientation and train the new hire with the same expectations placed on himself/herself in all facets of the job (ie. AM Sort, On-Road Performance, Safety, Customer Service).

NATURE AND SCOPE
Reports to Transportation Manager.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
Minimal or no educational requirement for this job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2+ years

Physical Requirements:
Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Preferred Qualifications:
4 years of previous delivery driver experience preferred
2 years of previous lead or management experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Valid, active Driver s License
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Ability to load and unload heavy items up to 70 lbs.
  • Must pass DOT physical, criminal check and drug screen
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Clean appearance
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be familiar with local and surrounding areas
  • Ability to read a maps and follow directions
  • Ability to use and read excel spreadsheets
