POSITION PURPOSE
This is a developmental position working closely with various product managers on key category initiatives. Responsibilities will be under the guidance and direction of the Product Manager, Merchandise Manager or Director of Merchandising. This position will assist with the development and growth of key category initiatives, inclusive of sales and gross profit, effective product launches, catalog merchandising as well as product and vendor management.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
50%- Assist with research to develop written business plans across all brands.
25%- Product Sourcing and selection across all brands.
25%- Work with merchant on product and vendor selection.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Reports to Director, MRO. No direct reports.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2+years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist with research to develop written business plans across all brands.
Establish goals for sales volume, gross profit and vendor service levels
Identify new products/categories or enhancements to current ones
Outline strategies for category growth
Determine market needs and trends
Product Sourcing and selection across all brands.
Work with merchant on product and vendor selection
Assist with new product launches, ensuring all departments are tied to the same execution plan.
Assist with data collection as needed. Work with product data team on product placement and merchandising.
Assist with product forecasts
Research competitive date to implement initial pricing
Input sourcing data into the system
Work with Quality Assurance to establish and maintain standards for products and packaging
Maintain information within RS6000, Bridge and CMS
Analyze competitive pricing data.
Responsible for discontinuing products within the system and the disposition of existing inventories.
Review and recommend product line revisions including deletions.
Ensure vendors comply with Vendor Shipping Guide.
Act as the liaison between merchandising and marketing management, controlling the flow of information on products with various departments.
Identify new products for import sourcing.
Work with Import Sourcing department to research viability, sources, savings, quality, packaging, QA, patent issues, forecasts, order quantities and deliveries on import product.
Work with Import Sourcing on domestic to import projects, overseeing the marketing and quality aspects and providing final approval.
Creative development for product packaging and promotions (in conjunction with creative team).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct reporting personnel but requires a high degree of collaboration and communication with other departments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor s degree in Marketing or Business. One to three years of experience in marketing, merchandising, sales, product or brand management, preferably in a distribution environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Collaboration abilities, teamwork and inter-departmental communication skills are critical to the success of this position

COMPUTER SKILLS
Nearly all of the tasks required in this position require highly competent computer skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Data collection and analytical skills are paramount to analyze product performance, including cost estimating, turns, service levels and GM-ROI.
