JOB SUMMARY:

The Entry Lift Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of all chair lifts, rope tows and surface lifts to ensure safe operation and minimizing down time throughout the winter season. He/she is also responsible for abiding by all Vail Resorts and OSHA standards and thorough documentation of work projects. We are a crew with a strong dedication to guest service who have a strong responsible for guest safety.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all routine maintenance procedures under the guidance of the lift maintenance manager and senior mechanics. 
  • Ensure that all lifts are safe for the public by performing drive machinery inspections and service.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair assigned lifts. 
  • Interact professionally with lift operations staff and assist with lift operations training. 
  • Follow all safety and risk management policies and procedures including proper use of PPE, Hazard Communication, fall protection, lock out/tag out procedures, etc.
  • Weld, fabricate and repair through the proper set up and safe use of welders, grinders, cutting wheels, power hacksaws and various drilling functions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform basic work functions at heights on tower equipment such as routine rope alignment, sheave change out, evener replacement, brittle bar replacement, and  monthly and annual inspections.
  • Ensure that work area is free from clutter and all materials and tools are properly cleaned and stored.
  • Able to work outside for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years or older – Required
  • Must have valid Driver's License – Required
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools – Required
  • Ability to define each major component of a lift and its purpose – Required
  • Ability to work at heights in adverse weather conditions – Required
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form (in English) including communicating on the mountain radio.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic.
  • High School graduation or equivalent – Preferred
  • Ability to work well with others while maintaining a positive attitude, sometimes during high-stress
