Hickory Farms Distribution Center is currently seeking highly motivated individuals to fill Forklift Driver seasonal positions within the organization. The prime function of this position is to operate the forklift driver to move materials throughout the warehouse.

As a Forklift Driver, you will...

  • Safely and efficiently use material handling equipment to unload, load, pull or move product and supplies throughout the warehouse. Assures all equipment is safe to operate prior to the beginning of assigned shift.  This includes checking the battery, brakes, lift hook controls and fire extinguisher.
  • Perform daily equipment checks.
  • Moving products packed on pallets around the facility, including freezer and coolers.
  • Properly counts, wraps and tags items for receipt and shipment, thus assuring the accuracy of in-bound receiving and out-bound shipments. Picks products.  Uses pick tickets for finished product shipments.  Maintains stock rotation and cycle counts in accordance with the Company’s guidelines and policies.
  • Uses pick tickets, move and put-away sheets specific to each type of supply and/or product to ensure proper location within the warehouse locator system. Accurately and legibly prepares documents.
  • Removes selected items from the slot using system generated pick documents using a large degree of physical dexterity and depth perception.
  • Safely transports finished goods to freezer, cooler and dry rack locations.   Verifies through physical inspection that production quantities and lot numbers are accurate before storage or shipment.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of inventory transactions and the establishment of proper controls in conjunction with the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Comply with all Company safety policies, procedures and practices and immediately notifies supervisor of any hazards s/he is unable to correct.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or (GED); or three months’ related experience.
  • Must pass the Company’s drug screen, background check and visual acuity tests.
  • Successful completion of the Company’s forklift driver training and certification program
  • Excellent verbal, written and mathematical skills
  • Ability to repetitively physically lift 50 pounds; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Physical Demands of a Forklift Driver

  • Exert up to 50 lbs and/or 20 lbs of force frequently.
  • Able to stand up a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Exposure to temperature changes.  Cold to warm frequently.
  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures.
