Assistant General Counsel - Home Services, Store Operations, Pro Customer

POSITION PURPOSE

This position manages and handles legal matters within the Home Services, Store Operations and Pro Business groups, including regulatory and compliance issues.  This role will be responsible for contract drafting and negotiations and minimizing the legal exposure of the Company in any and all legal matters.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manages the legal affairs of the Home Services, Store Operations and Pro Business departments.
• Handles contract drafting, negotiations and commercial transactions.
• Directs Corporate Counsels and Paralegals.
• Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff.
• Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff.

NATURE AND SCOPE

• Reports to an Associate General Counsel
• Direct reports generally include one or more Corporate Counsels, one or more Paralegals and one or more Administrative Assistant

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements:

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. 
• Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines, demanding quotas and/or must regularly deal with difficult situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Education Required:
The completion of a Juris Doctor or equivalent and required certifications for practicing law.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10 +years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasion, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:
Significant experience in construction law
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong experience in residential construction law

• Contract drafting and negotiation
• Strong knowledge in construction law
• Ability to give actionable regulatory and compliance advice
• Ability to work cross-functionally with different departments with emphasis on customer engagement
• High degree of oral and written communication skills
