Day Care Coordinator / Team Lead (Full Time or Part Time - A full time schedule is preferred. Holidays and peak periods are required without exception.) The Day Care Coordinator is responsible for the operation and management of the day care facility in the Day Care Manager’s; Day Care Assistant Manager's; or Day Care Supervisor’s absence and or assists in daily operations. The Day Care Coordinator helps coordinate, plan, organize, direct and supervise the activities involved in managing a CA state licensed day care center, including health and safety regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; Assist in Hiring, Training, Feedback on performance appraisals and separating all personnel employed in the child care program. Financial responsibilities include; Understanding and knowledge of annual budget expectations, adhering to and being responsive to daily/monthly and seasonal financial expectations and forecasting for all child care related purposes. Provide supervision, direction and leadership in daily transitions with staff, children and families, as well as, implementation of activities for children ages infant through school age. The Day Care Coordinator will provide supervision, direction and leadership in daily transitions with staff, children and families. Provide excellent communication with management and all Day Care staff including other Heavenly & Vail Resorts departments. Positive discipline and child development knowledge is a must. Provide staff trainings throughout the season for a cohesive team atmosphere and child-centered environment. This is a partial list of duties and is not limited to the many facets of daily operations of a child care program. 

 

Experience Requirements: One to Two years of supervisory/teaching experience, or held a Supervisory position prior in a licensed child care facility.

CA State Educational Requirements to be fully qualified the Day Care Coordinator shall have completed one of the following prior to employment: (1) High school graduation or GED; completion, with passing grades, of 15 semester or equivalent to a minimum of 16 - 22 ECE units (completed or enrolled) of core coursework including but not limited to: Child Development, Child Family & Community, and a Curriculum course. Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations. Some additional classes that will count towards being fully qualified are completion or enrollment in Health, Safety & Nutrition, Infant Studies, Administration of ECE, Supervision of ECE programs, etc. PLUS additional ECE units and experience in center-based care or equivalent. 2) An associate of arts degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development; and at least two years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program. (A) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations. (3) A bachelor's degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development and at least one year of teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program. (A) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations. (4) One of the following: A Child Development Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit; or a Site Supervisor Permit; or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. 

 

*As a CA State licensed Child Care program a criminal background check, fingerprinting clearances through Federal and State will be conducted, as well as a health screening with TB test & Pertussis, Measles (MMR) vaccination for all Day Care employees (Flu shots are available). 

 

{The Center is licensed for 12 infants and toddlers with a toddler component and 32 preschoolers (Facility LIC #'s 093604118 & 093604119) Day Care Staff supervise the children depending on the two age groupings of Infant Toddler (ages 6 weeks to 2.5 years) or Preschool (ages 2.5 years to 6 years). Preschool staff, coach the lessons for the children ages 3-5 years in a one or two hour ski clinic.  No prior ski experience is required – training on how to teach skiing and sharing the magic of an on-snow ski experience for the children is provided. All staff take the children outdoors daily and assist in activities ranging from circle time, music & movement, buggy rides, outdoor playground time, snacks & lunch, art & crafts, rest time, memory cards, parent feedback just to name a few.}
