Hours will be per diem/as needed during the day. Normal hours are 8 am - 5 pm but we will have extended hours during the summer.

SUMMARY

Administers ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Collaborates with the physicist, dosimetrist and Radiation Oncologist in the planning of treatments. Performs services for patients from all age groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Minimum: Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) Approved Radiological Technology Program.

Credentials/Licensure

Minimum: Registered or registry eligible in Radiation Oncology (Must be registered within 180 days of appointment in this position). Must maintain 24 continuing education credits per biennium to retain registry. Certification or re-certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire, as well as maintain ongoing recertification.

Related Experience:

Minimum: Completion of clinical rotation in an approved radiation therapy program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy, in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, and Dosimetrist.

* Prepares room and equipment for the patient, according to the prescription regarding immobilization devices, field sizes, treatment distances, lead blocking devices, wedges, etc.

* Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, consent forms, and patient identification before treatment. Checks daily treatment, monitors units and parameters, and delivers the prescribed dose using the appropriate documentation devices.

* Maintains treatment and simulator supplies, and requests reorder as needed.

* Participates in the simulation of radiation therapy patients.

* Reports erratic operation of equipment to physicist and supervisor; and documents in logbook.

* Participates in evening and weekend call schedule.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.
