Full time, part-time, or per diem caregiver. Promotes well-being of residents by guiding, assisting, persuading, and/or removing barriers to ADLs. Daily work assignment is planned and checked by charge person; reports to Director of Nursing
Job Description Details:
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the Sisters of Providence Care Centers Mission and core values by:
* Promote optimal daily care of residents including, personal and oral hygiene, nutrition, exercise, and socialization. Obtain vital signs, weights, and specimens. Document activity in accordance with facility practice.
* Assist and encourage residents to care for their personal space and belongings to attain a safe clean environment. (Example: Make beds, care for personal laundry, tidy rooms and bureaus.)
* Follow all safety, security, infection control, quality and hazardous materials policies and procedures. Perform all tasks to ensure resident and personal safety, protection of co-workers and facility property.
* Customer satisfaction and a focus on quality are evidenced in all aspects of work. Promote and support the philosophy, goals, and objectives of SPHS.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the mission of SPHS and its core values in all aspects of work. Treat all fellow employees, residents, family members, and visitors with respect and courtesy.
* Attends all regulation and SPHS mandated in-services; follows mandated abuse/neglect reporting, and maintains confidentiality at all times.
* Beaven Kelly & St. Luke's -- May be required to drive/transport or accompany a resident to and /or from an appointment, procedure, or function to promote resident care and well-being.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* The general knowledge and comprehension skills normally acquired by obtaining a high school diploma or GED in order to complete in-service and daily documentation requirements.
* Ability to read, write and converse in English. A second language is helpful.
* Beaven Kelly & St. Luke's - Must possess a valid state issued driver's license in good standing. Must attend and complete annual driver training provided by SPHS and provide the employer with a clean driver history from the MA RMV. Must provide documented evidence of active auto driver's insurance coverage consistent with the prevailing requirements of SPHS.
* Ability to provide personal care with respect for an individual's privacy and dignity. This skill is usually gained through a HHA or CNA course, studies in nursing or a related field, or caring for a friend or family member with disabilities.
* Interpersonal skills necessary to relate to persons of varying age, culture, religion, and/or ability.
* Requires prolonged standing, bending, pushing, squatting, twisting, walking, or other constant physical movements on a regular basis; or frequent lifting of moderately heavy items 40 pounds or greater.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
* To minimize risk of illness must understand and practice standard precautions.
* To minimize risk of injury must understand and practice proper body mechanics and Tag Out/Lock Out procedures.
* Will work rotating weekends and days off, some holidays, and occasional shifts other than usual assignment.
* Work environment is usually pleasant: works in a team relationship with employees from all departments, and with frequent feedback on performance.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
* Responsible to the charge person for daily assignment; reports administratively to the Director of Nursing.
* Has no responsibility for leading or supervising others.
* May be asked to assist in new employee orientation.
