NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
 
Support the optimal performance of the Maintenance area by ensuring that all procedures made or completed in that area are to Legendary Baking standards of quality, safety and sanitation. Assign daily job duties and tasks to Team Members in the absence of Maintenance Manager. In addition, assists the manager in training employees in proper procedures and techniques.
 
DETAILED ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
  • Performance of all essential functions outlined in designated areas’ job descriptions.
  • Safety:  Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times. Performs duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures at all times. Immediately communicates all accidents, potential hazards, and near miss accidents to the manager on duty.
  • Maintain knowledge of all equipment in area; demonstrate proper procedures to use while operating with special emphasis on safety.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut cost and take advantage of opportunities.
  • Take immediate corrective action in the absence of area Manager, notify on site Manager of actions taken.  
  • Product Quality:  Visually monitors product and takes corrective action when necessary. Ensures product is consistent with established specifications. Escalates quality issues to QA and production management as appropriate.
  • Paper Work:  Completes all required paperwork thoroughly and in a timely manner in accordance with company policies.
  • Food safety:  Monitors food safety and security daily and communicates and reports any violations of food security or suspicious activity to direct manager. Escalates quality issues to QA and production management as appropriate.
  • Support the optimal performance of the production function through participation in all day-to-day activities of assigned team. This includes: opening the work area, supervision of the main function of the assigned team and supervision of final clean up.
  • Responsible for meeting the goals and objectives established with Manager.
  • Complete all required clerical functions and required paperwork for your designated area, ensuring all paperwork is completed timely, in full and accurately, including but not limited to HACCP, Production Orders, Weight Sheets, etc.)
  • Follow all established departmental/company rules and regulations, including but not limited to work, safety, housekeeping, and uniform and security rules.
  • Perform special support services for department as requested by management.
  • Instruct new employees on the most effective way to performance and follow procedures in the Maintenance work area. Provide written follow - up and recommendation on training regarding the certification of new employees.
  • Assure required training paperwork and tests are completed in a timely manner during the training process. Maintain knowledge of all equipment in the plant, demonstrate proper procedures to use while operating with special emphasis on safety.
  • Take immediate corrective action in the absence of area Manager.    
  • Responsible for meeting the goals and objectives established with Manager..
  • Perform special support services for department as requested by management.                                                                         
  • Make the specifications and complete the” buying procedures“ for supplies as needed.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS):
 
The Maintenance Mechanic would normally be performing one job duty at a time that could require the following: 
  • See/Hear/Speak.
  • Standing 65%, walking 20%, stooping/bending 15%.
  • Reach at times above shoulder/ below knee level
  • Lift/ Carry up to 50 lb. 
  • Must be able to work in a -10 to 100 degrees area for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to handled/touch frozen products.
  • Good hand grasping and fingering skills.
  • Vertical climbing.
  • Working 25 feet above ground level.
 
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
 
Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions and find help when task are beyond mechanic skill level.
  • Must pass HACCP, MSDS, and Drug test.
  • Must be able to consistently produce accurate, professional-quality work. 
  • Must be able to approach a problem and systematically develop and test solutions.
  • Must have a strong maintenance back ground with a certificate in maintenance.
  • Effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of management, staff and other department personnel.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize high-demands tasks.
  • Convey a positive, professional and helpful image to both internal and external customers.
  • Completed instruction in quality, safety, interpersonal skills and commissary training.
