Schwan’s Company is searching for a Manager, Material Master & Specification Systems to be based in our corporate offices in Marshall, MN. We do offer a comprehensive relocation package! Opportunity to be a strategic partner within our PI&D (Product Innovation & Design) team, working closing with R&D, Information Systems and the manufacturing teams to help mold the future state of our Material Master and Spec systems. Opportunity to hone and grow your leadership skills, in leading a team of 5 data coordinators.

This person is the global process owner for Product Material Master, the management of master product information throughout the lifecycle of the product. This Manager is the resident expert for the specification business process, as it touches a variety of product processes throughout the subsidiaries Schwan’s Company. You will also manage the master product information throughout its lifecycle, from initial design through discontinuation. The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Ensuring product information is accurate and complete for all material related specifications and master data, including but not limited to ingredients, packaging, subassembly, and finished product specifications
  • Executing and continuing development of the specification and master data process, including workflow routing of notifications, specification format, content resolution and resolving discrepancies.
  • Develops metrics to measure performance and provides high level oversight & accountability for master product and specification management.
  • Responsible for ensuring training is developed, delivered and understood and ensuring continued improvement to systems by working with the Information Services team.
  • Manages Product Lifecycle Maintenance (PLM) and Material Master (MM) system administration.
  • Communicates and follows through with software observations and issues to Information Services team members and software provider. Maintains the security protocols and hierarchy for the specification and master product data system.
  • Develops and maintains master product data and specification process flow maps. Evaluates and analyzes priorities for master data and specification process while identifying and pursing continuous improvement opportunities. Supports the transfer of master data for external uses such as GS1 external websites etc.
  • Manages, maintains and continues to refine the master product data and specification processes and associated documentation to ensure Speed to Market for manufacturing finished goods.
  • Creates and own templates. Also maintains reviews and coordinates revision of approved specification types within defined templates.
  • Owns Approval Routing/Tracing Revisions, Obsolescence. Maintains, reviews and coordinates revision of approved specification format, insuring consistency from item to item while evaluating and negotiating agreed upon appropriate content.
  • Resolves discrepancies within internal customer base.
  • Manages, trains and develops a team of Material Master coordinators and Change coordinators.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent Years of Related Experience

Experience: 5-7 years related experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must understand manufacturing processes, and ability to understand Information Services and R&D processes.
  • Must have strong technical aptitude, and passion for working with data and systems!
  • Experience with SAP, specifically the PLM and MM modules a plus
  • Managerial or supervisory skills preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformative change.
  • Capable of achieving results and managing ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team members and leaders in own and other business areas.
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills at all levels and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in food or CPG manufacturing preferred
