About this job

We are looking for a self-motivated individual that provides "hand-on" support, trobleshooting, and repairing skills to support company-owned and dealer sites, maintaining and troubleshooting computer and network systems in the greater Southern California area and occasional travel to Southern Nevada and Phoenix/Tucson Arizona.

Based in our Bloomington office, the Field Technician maintains provides prompt and courteous service both internally and externally.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs and maintains Windows XP/7/10, and Linux based hardware and software systems.
  • Installs and manages Windows and Linux-based site and fueling controllers.
  • Monitors and maintains system performance. Performs system back-ups.
  • Troubleshoots emergency situations. Identifies problems, gathers data, develops and assesses alternative courses of action. Makes timely decisions based on logical assumptions, using all available information.
  • Monitors progress and coordination of delegated assignments. Keeps Technology Department informed of progress and problems.
  • Finds and uses relationships between data from different sources. Identifies and researches questions.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Two to Four years of system administration experience or BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience with all aspects of Windows XP/7/10 Administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Internet, LAN, WAN, and secure networks.
  • Petroleum industry experience helpful, but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-system configurations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent editing and writing skills, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, proofreading and punctuation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize details of a multi-task environment, set deadlines and complete projects accordingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS and/or COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and comprehend operating and maintenance instructions as well as procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other team members. Ability to operate and use a personal computer.
