POSITION SUMMARY:
The Audiologist plans,conducts and interprets audiology evaluation for patients. He/Shedetermines patients' hearing level and most likely site of damage to auditorysystem, anticipates degree of social disability resulting from hearing lossand predicts potential benefits of hearing aid used and/or specialtraining.
PrincipalAccountabilities
* Reads patients' charts, interviews patients and families to obtain case history, and consults with physicians, speech pathologist and other relevant clinical professionals in order to evaluate patients' condition according to standard procedures.
* Performs differential diagnosis, anticipates degree of sound disability resulting from hearing loss and predicts potential benefits of hearing aid use and/or special training.
* Discusses evaluation and treatment with patients and their families in order to allay anxieties and elicit cooperation.
* Instructs patients and families in proper rehabilitative practices.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, includingLicensure, Certification/Registration
* Masters or Doctoral Degree in Audiology required
* Current State of California Audiologist License
* Current BLS required
Experience
* Two (2) years' experience as an audiologist
* California Hearing Aid Dispensing License
