Macy’s is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant, Corporate Communications who will work closely with the Group Vice President and team supporting all external channels of the Macy’s Corporate Communications strategy focused on our various corporate functions - all with a shared passion for making life shine brighter for our customers.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high energy and collaborative environment, with a sharp focus on delivering a supreme level of senior level customer support.

This role will join a team of existing and new communications talent all working together to build a strong communications function at Macy’s. Retail experience is a plus, but not a must.

This position is based in New York City.

Essential Functions:

• Work closely with the Group Vice President, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Vice President of National Media Relations to deliver enterprise-wide information through a variety of communications vehicles

· · Works closely and effectively with the GVP and VPs to keep them well-informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities

· · Serves as the "gatekeeper" of access and information for the GVP and VPs

· · Maintains confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential

• · Administrative tasks: individual and departmental calendar maintenance, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, answering phones, maintaining contact sheets, ordering and maintaining supplies

• Track and submit monthly expenses for department

• Coordinate elements of annual team initiatives and campaigns

• Collaborate amongst various roles within the department on special projects as needed

· · Produce monthly reports as needed

• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 2-4+ administrative experience required

Communication Skills:

• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading abilities

· · Excellent attention to detail, team player, self-started, strong ability to work independently



Mathematical Skills:

Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability:

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must possess sound judgment and decision making.
• Excellent attention to detail, team player, self-starter, strong ability to work independently

• Resourceful, highly organized, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Physical Demands:

• This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment.
• May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Other Skills:

• High level of accuracy, flexibility, and tact, poise, and personal effectiveness

· · Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion; be adaptable to various competing demands and demonstrate the highest level of client service and responsiveness

• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Work Hours:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
