Summary of Job: The entry cook position is a fast - paced job which involves preparing and serving different foods to resort guests and employees. Keeping up the cleanliness of the kitchen, helping and communicating with guests and co-workers, and having fun is standard in Alps, Meadows, and Highlands as well as in the Food Truck or prep cook in Paul’s.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Follow standardized recipes and completing given assignments in a fast - paced environment.
• Communicate with supervisor and co-workers following both oral and written instructions.
• Maintain a safe working environment in the kitchen, on the service line, and surrounding areas.
• Take responsibility for the product used and assure quality products are delivered to the guest.
• Serve orders to customers at windows, counters, or tables.
• Adhere to safe food handling skills.
• Properly covering, labeling, and storing food items.
• Rotate products to insure freshness.
• Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas and equipment.
• Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
• Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
• Cook and package food prepared to order or to be kept warm until sold.
• Prepare and cook food to directions.
• Clean and stock workstations and display cases.
• Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
• Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations of Vail Resorts and Afton Alps.
• Assist other departments, as needed.
• Adhere to and role model the company’s mission, vision, and values.
• Other duties, as assigned.
• Must practice good personal hygiene.

Job Requirements:

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent - Preferred  
• High level of interpersonal skills to ensure: teamwork, high level guest contact, and commitment to guest service.
• Certified Slip Resistant shoes are required prior to starting work. Shoes must be provided by the employee.
• Must demonstrate ability to receive direction and act upon it. - Preferred
• Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required
