Responsibilities and Qualifications

ResponsibilitiesSecure Health Center Assets While Promoting Mercy Values. (Evaluated by observation, written records and absence of valid complaints)1.1 Monitors staff and patrols entire health center campus and insures prompt response to all staff members under approved job description. When necessary, works directly with other staff members in performing safety responsibilities with a goal of identifying efficiency improvement solutions and problem causes.1.2 Displays a caring and compassionate attitude towards everyone and responds to and assist the needs of others. To be measured by receiving no more than one documented complaint per quarter.1.3 Enforces Hospital Personnel Policies and Procedures and Departmental Policies and Procedures equally and fairly among all staff personnel.Maintain and Monitors Records and Reports. 2.1 Maintains a daily activity log. (Evaluated by observation and review of work)2.2 Prioritizes personal work assignments so that all activities are completed within established time frames.2.3 Prepares reports and documents (Incident reports) in established time frames and formats.2.4 Works closely with the hospital staff to ensure their needs are being met as they arise, but making sure that the assistance provided is within securities scope of responsibilities.2.5 Maintains a record of Combination locks, parking garage cards and employee parking decals according to policy and procedures.2.6 Maintains the lost and found items and patient valuable storage according to policy and procedures.Transportation and Escort Duties.3.1 Escorts employees, visitors, patients and various department personnel. With or without cash and/or valuables, ensuring timely delivery to proper destination. (Evaluated by observation and absence of valid complainants)3.2 Transport health center staff and/or visitors as required, adhering to all safety precautions and established procedures.Service, Training, and Safety Issues. Monitors the effectiveness of safety measures for all hospital grounds and participates in professional development activates.4.1 Periodically Conducts hospital-wide fire drills on monthly basis: to include one per month. Three are to be conducted per quarter, one per shift, according to policy and procedure and JCAHO standards.4.2 Participates in the performance of inspections and other related activity, such as; monthly fire extinguisher inspections and safety activity. 4.3 Attends all mandatory department meetings and inservices and participates in one professional development school or seminar per year.4.4 Will maintain all required licenses and certifications.4.5 Responds to all condition red alarms and other emergency codes and alarms according to policy and procedure. Is an active member of the Fire Response Team and other related groups as needed.4.6 Required to monitor all radio activity by wearing assigned headset to insure patient safety and HIPAA compliance.4.7 Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to access patient status per stage of growth and development and to provide the appropriate care respective of their age.Monitors all authorized and unauthorized entries.5.1 Ensure that all doors are locked and unlocked during normal and off duty hours.5.2 Observe all broken locks and force of entries while performing patrols. Utilizing proper security forms, 100% documentation is required.5.3 Utilizing proper security forms, when unlocking doors for authorized personnel when requested. Documenting 100% of all entries.General Assistance and Maintenance Duties.6.1 Maintain all flags located at the Admitting entrance and wind direction indicators located at both helipad sights.6.2 Provide Security Services (Jump starts, air or change tire, etc.) when requested by owner. 6.3 Assist with general fleet maintenance of health center vehicles.6.4 Prepares work orders on an as needed basis and other duties as assigned by proper authorities.6.5 Provides orientation to forensic staff who accompany prisoners/inmates to Mercy Health Center per instructions attached to Abbreviated Safety Learning Activity Packet.Department Goals.7.1 Completes assignments as instructed by the Sergeant within an established time frame.7.2 Interjects new ideas and ways of doing things to maximize quality and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure: CLEET Armed Security Guard License. Experience: Certifications: American Heart Association BLS Certification and Mercy Security Level 400 Certified within 90 days of hire or promotion. Other: Must be 21 years of age. Working Conditions: Mental and Physical Requirements: Conditioning standards are set by Employee Health. Equipment Used: Expandable baton (ASP), Pepper Spray (OC), Handcuffs, Behavioral restraints, Non-Behavioral Restraints, AED, Radios, Dispatch program, Security vehicles, Knowledge: Required training includes but is not limited to:CPR, AED, Baton, OC spray, S.A.F.E Approach within first 90 days. .Preferred Education: Some collegePreferred Licensure: Preferred Experience: Previous Law Enforcement and or Security work history.
