Banquet/ Catering Server - Part-time

The Merion Cricket Club, founded in 1856, is a premier private club located just outside of Philadelphia on the Main Line in Haverford. The Club provides multiple dining options, tennis, squash, and paddle programs, a bowling alley, fitness center, pro shop, and other athletic options such as cricket, croquet, and soccer to its membership. We are open year round and seek to offer our membership and guest the finest service and experience possible on a daily basis.

We are seeking a Banquet Catering Server to join our team!

The primary Banquet Catering Server function is serving food and drinks at dinners and special events while interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and efficient manner.

The ideal candidate for a Banquet Catering Server position at Merion is someone who has an energetic personality, a hard work ethic, self-motivated, and a passion for offering excellent service. The Club offers an educational work environment for someone who is interested in learning about the hospitality industry. We like to promote from within and there is opportunity for advancement.

Banquet/Catering Server Duties and Responsibilities:

• Event set up and breakdown including arranging tables and chairs and setting tables
• Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests
• Refilling guests’ beverage glasses; removing finished plates and utensils between meal courses
• Serving cocktails, wine, and beer
• Occasionally taking orders
• Occasionally providing table side wine service
• Occasionally presenting and pouring wine at private dinners, tasting, and Club Special Events
• Maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness
• Adhering to grooming and appearance standards

Banquet and Catering Server Job Requirements:

• Energetic personality and strong work ethic
• Polite manners and excellent communication skills
• A passion for food and fine dining
• Flexible availability including weekends and evenings
• Reliable transportation
• Frequently walking with some standing at times, possibly extended distances; ability to bend and climb stairs when necessary
• Frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
• Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience
• Excellent oral communication and listening skills
• Ability to follow directions
• Excellent customer service skills

This position pays a competitive hourly rate and offers 401K, profit sharing for employees after 6 months.
