Park City Mountain has a full time position available for a seasonal Lead Events & Activities Guide position for the 2017-2018 winter season! The Lead Events and Activities Guide will be responsible for daily operations of all mountain and village programming at Park City Base Area, Canyons Village and Town Lift Plaza, including but not limited to special events and activities hosting, setup and teardown while creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and delivering outstanding guest service to each of our guests. The Lead will also be responsible for a variety of administrative responsibilities, including creating weekly guide schedules, managing inventory of snowshoe tours, and contacting vendors for village activities while establishing activity calendar. Specialist will also be responsible for leading guided snowshoe tours and completing a variety of additional guest services positions when necessary.

Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinating Events & Activities Guide schedule for duration of winter season.
  • Managing snowshoe tour product offerings, including scheduling guides, coordinating reservations with guests, communicating product information to various Park City Mountain departments and concierges, and managing lift access inventory.
  • Assisting the Brand Experience Manager, Brand Experience Senior Specialist with additional coordination and administrative duties as needed, including, but not limited to, developing morning pre-shift meetings with guides, safety topic discussions, and contacting village activity vendors.
  • Hosting, setting up infrastructure and tearing down a variety of mountain programming, including, but not limited to, village live music and children’s activities.
  • Developing working relationships with third party vendors for live music and family activities production.
  • Providing guests with information about the special events, mountain and village programming offerings, as well as other resort and local information (directions, prices, etc.).
  • Providing exceptional guest service at all times for both internal and external guests to create the safest and most enjoyable experience possible.
  • Providing guests with instruction on snowshoe technique (dependent on experience and qualifications) in both group and private lesson settings in accordance with resort methodology.
  • Exhibiting the ability to demonstrate and communicate proper snowshoe technique (dependent on experience and qualifications) while maintaining a fun and safe atmosphere during guided tours.
  • Protecting the safety of self, co-workers, and Park City Mountain guests at all times by following all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Conducting equipment, trail, and facility maintenance as needed (including cleaning and proper care of activity equipment and assisting with snow removal, inventory of snowshoe equipment, etc.) and coordinating with Snow Safety team to address any trail concerns.
  • Exhibiting punctuality and time management skills while completing assigned tasks (including reliably clocking in and out for breaks).
  • Maintaining a commitment to learning and improvement by evaluating personal performance and accepting feedback from crew members and supervisor(s).
  • Reporting any potentially harmful equipment or situations as well as accidents or incidents to the immediate supervisor(s) without delay.
  • Contributing to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, accepting diverse assignments, and maintaining a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and for the safety of guests and employees, and participating in all safety and service meetings.
  • Meeting service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor(s).
  • Maintaining flexible work hours (short days, on-mountain skiing, holidays, etc.) with the ability to respond to changes in the work environment (weather, on site events, etc.).
  • Other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor and/or manager.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Must have excellent guest service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written).
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to carry out oral and written instructions, requesting clarification when needed.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships and perform well in a team atmosphere.
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment.
  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills and follow and provide directions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25-50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, walk on a variety of surfaces, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.
  • Must be able to communicate constantly with speech, hearing, and vision.
  • Ability to lead snowshoe tours
  • Access to reliable transportation between base areas

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working or recreating in the outdoor sports industry.
  • Experience guiding.
  • Experience working with guests of all ages in the guest service industry.
  • Knowledge of the local area and resort.
  • Experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring
