Directs the day-to-day work of Mountain Safety employees, but does not have direct reports. Enforces policies and procedures; provides training and guidance as needed and problem solves issues. Performs all tasks for which work group is responsible as necessary.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Practices first level leadership skills in regards to motivation, morale, and positive reinforcement, verbal feedback, and gives input to supervisory team on mid and end of season reviews.
  • Collects and tracks team members’ completed training activities, attendance and inspections.Demonstrate high ability to mediate guest service issues, while providing the best service possible for the Guest.
  • Develop positive relationships with other leaders and management staff to provide the best employee experience as possible.
  • Assist with day to day training of staff and give feedback for tracking performance throughout the season.
  • Help create a cohesive, consistent and upbeat attitude among the staff toward individual and departmental safety goals.
  • Coordinate day to day department operations on the mountain, to include staffing coverage adjustments, signage, and other issues as they arise.
  • Must consistently provide excellent guest service.  Help drive improved guest service ratings for the company.
  • Ensure all violator cards are retrieved from the patrol staff each day.
  • Responsible to participate and lead the safety violator classes.
  • Enter operation notes into RPOS system and department spread sheet on a daily basis. Provide assistance and leadership on small projects, as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent- required
  • College Degree - preferred
  • Mountain Information or Mountain Safety work experience - required
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience - preferred
  • Advanced skiing/riding skills - required
  • MS Office efficiency - required
  • Verbal & written proficiency in the English language
  • Must be well versed in all facets of Mountain Operations and  guest services
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Extensive knowledge of Park City Resort Mountain Operations and Resort layout.
  • Must have frequent ability to lift, stand, walk, sit, and maneuver in all climate conditions on mountain, in high elevation territories and changing weather conditions;
  • Must have full dexterity of hands and fingers to feel and maneuver in cold temperatures;
  • Ability to reach with hands/arms;
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in all weather conditions up to 8 hours every day;
  • Ability to positively communicate with our guests verbally -  listening and talking;
  • Must have good vision (corrected or not corrected) – with ability to see up-close, in the distance, with color, peripheral, depth perception and have the ability to adjust focus.
