Summary of Job:

The terrain park groomer will assist the terrain parks department with the overall construction and maintenance of all terrain parks and is responsible for the safe and timely completion of assigned projects. They are responsible for operating grooming equipment safely. They will work closely with and take direction from grooming supervisors, leads, and the terrain park manager. In addition, the terrain park groomer will produce an exceptional skiing/riding surface and maintain Afton Alps slopes and trails during all snow and weather conditions

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety of our guests and fellow employees
  • Responsible for safe Sno-Cat operation
  • Ability to operate all grooming equipment safely
  • Operator must adhere to operational/company standards
  • Must be capable of completing general park maintenance and assist the grooming supervisor with other terrain park builds and maintenance
  • Ability to take direction from Grooming Team Lead
  • Assist Terrain Park Manager and Grooming Team Lead in terrain park construction and other related projects
  • Collaborates with and produces a team dynamic between mountain operation departments
  • Act as role model regarding guest service related initiatives
  • Take part in all trainings for Grooming Staff and assist with newer operator training when applicable
  • Must embrace and communicate to all groomers the established operational guidelines concerning risk management
  • Prepare and maintain snow surfaces for skiers/riders of all levels
  • Fulfill the hauling and dozing needs of other departments
  • Assist with other various outside projects, as needed
  • Work in extreme cold conditions
  • Assist mechanics to troubleshoot breakdowns, as needed
  • Physical labor will be required on a daily basis
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally to staff and guests

  • Create and maintain a productive, safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sno-Cat operator/groomer
  • Ability to maintain and construct terrain park snow features, install rail and box features, and follow specific grooming patterns while performing general maintenance
  • Ability to transport various materials using Sno-Cat forks       
  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English
  • Must be able to communicate via radio
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment
  • Familiarity with Afton Alps terrain – Preferred
  • Ability to withstand extreme cold and variable winter conditions
  • Ability to climb in and out of Sno-Cat
  • Ability to clean and remove ice from vehicle at end of every shift
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and shovel large quantities of snow
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and work in small groups
  • Team player
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends.
