The ReStart residential program provides substance use treatment services for to up to ten adolescents ages 13 to 17. The youth are provided with a safe and structured setting to help them focus on achieving emotional stability, coping skills, and behavioral change, leading to a new lifestyle independent of self-destructive and/or addictive behavior. The Overnight Residential Treatment Counselor provides individualized care and supervision of clients during the night hours. This is an awake position.ResponsibilitiesNightly logging regarding clients' behavior and whereabouts, incident reports, maintenance requests, medication charting, if needed, police and missing persons' reports for clients still missing at night, and similar responsibilities.Supervision of Clients/House Security: Consistently aware of physical location of clients throughout the night, given regular room and bed checks, facilitating clients in occupying appropriate locations if they are awake, following clients closely when indicated, observing peer interactions and intervening when interactions are inappropriate.Oversee and participate in the cleaning of the home. Ensure morning chores are completed; inspect house for health and safety hazards; assist with program laundry.Develop rapport with clients based on trust, facilitate peer communication and support in the milieu, and instill a clear sense of personal boundaries.Enforce rules of program in a manner that is consistent with other team members and the program. Follow supervisory directives.Supervise youth's daily health needs, particularly in completing the morning routines, communicate illnesses to day staff, distribute and chart medication, apply first aid and carry out similar health-related responsibilities. Check the medication charts for errors within the month and alert team members to any needed corrections before the month is out.Be familiar with client's individual treatment plans. Provide feedback to ReStart Program Recovery Specialist and/or Clinician to help ensure client is meeting/addressing treatment goals as observed during wake hours of shift, such as client's sleep patterns, personal hygiene, healthy eating habits, completion of chores, taking medications as prescribed.Respond to client crisis situations according to agency protocols and individual treatment plans. Clearly exhibit the ability to be proactive in defusing or deescalating crisis situations. Work collaboratively to communicate necessary steps to provide safe containment. Implement de-escalation principles effectively.The Overnight RTC is expected to stay awake during his/her shift.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years' related experience in a social science field; ORAssociate Arts (A.A.) degree and 6 years' experience; ORCertification or Registration as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor, meeting State of California requirementsMinimum of one year working full time providing direct service to adolescents OR other experience working in related awake overnight care;Fingerprint clearance through Dept. of Social Services Community Care LicensingMust be 21 years old or olderClearance of TB test, physical exam, fingerprints and any other mandatory State/Federal requirements.A valid California driver's license, personal automobile for use on the job, insurable by SHS' insurance policy based on DMV record and personal vehicle insurance.Sunny Hills Services is an Equal Opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, Vietnam era or other veteran status.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $15.00 /hourJob Location:San Anselmo, CARequired education:AssociateRequired experience:Residential: 1 year
