Position Title: Operations Manager - Food Lion

Position Location: Disputanta, VA

Position Summary:

Oversee and maintain the total operations for assigned areas and associates, and ensure supervisory team meets and maintains production standards for shipping department based on assignment. Handle all daily issues and projects under the direction of the Distribution Manager. Work with all Distribution Center Departments, Transportation, and Inventory Management to ensure the timely and safe movement of product. Hold associates accountable for providing retail and our customers the best quality product possible. Sponsor, measure, and guide distribution center goals to completion in areas of responsibility.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

* Manage team of supervisors responsible for the day to day activities of department of business unit and assigned staff

* Supervise team's performance through performance planning, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts

* Communicates and keeps direct reports well informed and aligned to Company and DC's values, goals, results, initiatives, policies, procedures etc.

* Ensures associate schedule meets the demand of inbound/outbound volume

* Responsible for assisting in hiring, training, and developing of all new and existing associates

* Work with all applicable departments to ensure efficiently and accurate flow of inventory in and out of distribution center shipping departments

* Hold departmental meetings as expected

* Help support or conduct communicate and administer disciplinary action to associates who violate company

policy.

* Communicate with appropriate individuals/departments during the shift that may affect other warehouse departments

* Efficiently lead the supervisors of the department toward attaining their individual and combined goals through hands-on guidance.

* Help build effect teams by creating goals and providing development plans for self and direct reports

* Schedule salaried supervision in all areas to ensure proper coverage in each department.

* Develop a large group of production associates into a well-organized, highly motivated and well aligned team.

* Minimizes workplace accidents and injuries by sustain a culture that is compliant with safety procedures and highly focused on workplace safety.

* Maintain labor cost and improve productivity

* Strategically plan, develop, implement, and be responsible for budget & operational goals

* Acts as resource, mentor, and coach/trainer for supervisor direct reports and supervisor trainees progressing through the DLOT curriculum

* Provide accurate reporting information to DC Manager and others

* Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs

RequirementsBasic Qualifications:

* High School Education or equivalent

* Certified on a powered industrial equipment where applicable

* Seasoned knowledge of distribution shipping practices

Preferred Qualifications:

* College degree or equivalent experience

* Familiarity/experience in a distribution environment

* Basic understanding of business financial reports and information

* 3-5 years of experience in management preferred

* Familiarity with WMS and supporting systems (i.e. RF & Voice Selection) is preferred

* Must be able to work on all shifts and weekends

* Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time

* Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e. cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks)

* Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers
