About this job

Our Finance group plays a critical role in our ability to successfully and accurately forecast and then implement plans for our business. Here, you'll work together and with leaders of other business units to help Sears Holdings determine the financial integrity of plans. You'll also work cross functionally to support the planning process, provide analytical support, analyze economic indicators and view outcomes at both a macro and micro level.

This position is an excellent entry point into Sears Holdings as it provides exposure to Sears' many businesses and financial processes thereby establishing a foundation for future success.

Upon successful completion of the internship, students may receive an offer to join the Finance organization as a Financial Analyst which serves as an entry-level role into one of our finance teams, such as FP&A, Treasury, Merchandise, Marketing, Financial Services, etc.

Our Finance Internship is typically a path to Financial Analyst but an opportunity to explore many other positions within our business as well.

The internship program opportunity is 10-weeks in duration. As an intern, your work is project based to give you the opportunity to expand your portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for performing routine financial analysis to support strategic decision making.
  • Assists various Financial Analysts and Business Finance Managers with finance and accounting issues, research and analysis during annual strategic planning process.
  • Performs business specific exception reporting for regular business reviews with buying teams and senior management.
  • Responsible for ensuring corporate controls are executed within the various business units.
  • Assembles data, reporting, and recommendations on ad hoc analysis requested by finance, merchandising, and senior management.
  • Develops, NPV, break-even and ROI analysis info on various merchandise projects.

Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree - Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Analytics
  • High energy, enthusiasm and excellent judgment

  • Superior analytical, problem solving, and technical finance skills
