The Senior Administrator is a catalyst for the development and integration of the Emory Transplant Center in the Woodruff Health Science Center (WHSC) with the goal of advancing the organization into the leading transplant center in academic medicine. The senior administrator develops and leads an innovative, integrated, multi-disciplinary center for transplantation services within Emory University and the WHSC. As chief operating officer, the senior administrator has responsibility for integrating the operational and administrative components of ETC within the WHSC and its affiliated organizations. The position assists the executive director of the center and executive associate dean of the school of medicine in efforts to expand transplantation research, and works to enhance educational and clinical programs through reorganization of existing resources, acquisition of needed resources and development of the appropriate organizational structure for the program. The position helps create and implement an integrated care model including transplant medicine, surgery and other specialists and support team members that care for patients from their point of entry into the Emory Healthcare system to their ongoing care after transplantation. This work is accomplished in a matrix organizational structure where needed information is readily available to all stakeholders, decision making is participatory and incentives are aligned for the success not only of ETC, but also of the WHSC.

The senior administrator ensures that the center renders high quality patient care and services, including management of patient flow/access, treatment issues, coordination of ancillary services, oversight of medical records, and enhancement of patient support and service improvement.

The senior administrator manages nine direct reports, and has accountability for 200 staff and a net operating budget of $60 million for clinical/academic affairs and $18 million in research. Key responsibilities include center administration, clinical practice administration, research and education, quality, financial management, development, regulatory and accreditation compliance management, strategic planning, human resources, facilities management, leadership and professional development. These key areas of responsibilities require successful collaboration with various management levels within the WHSC, the Emory Clinic, Emory Hospitals and the School of Medicine.

The senior administrator reports jointly to the ETC executive director and executive administrator who are responsible for evaluation and compensation decisions for the senior administrator. For operational matters, in addition to the direct reporting relationships above, the senior administrator reports to the COO of the Emory Clinic; the vice-president of operations of Emory University Hospital; and, the interim dean of the School of Medicine; and others, as leadership and management of ETC programs and funding requires. For strategic matters, the senior administrator works collaboratively with the executive director of the center and executive associate dean of the school of medicine. For quality and patient care model development, the senior administrator works collaboratively with EHC quality leadership, CNO and others to ensure quality and service excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The preferred candidate will
