About this job

The Department of Cell Biology at Emory University School of Medicine seeks outstanding applicants to fill a tenure-path faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the areas of Neurological Disease, including Neurodevelopmental Disorders or Neurodegeneration.

Our Department has broad interests in cell biology, developmental biology and neuroscience (http://cellbio.emory.edu). Preferred candidates will complement these areas with a research focus on mechanisms of neurological disease. Applicants who investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with brain disorders, including synapse biology and dysfunction, post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression and RNA dysregulation are especially encouraged to apply.

Competitive applicants should have a strong publication record, a demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding, and will be expected to build a vigorous research program. New faculty will also participate in classroom instruction of medical students and contribute to a robust program of graduate-level research training, including the Graduate Neuroscience Program. Emory offers opportunities for collaboration within our own extensive biomedical community, and with neighboring institutions including the Centers for Disease Control, the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, and Georgia Tech. The Atlanta area is a rapidly growing and diverse metropolitan hub with a lush tree canopy and a mild climate that adds to quality of life.
