SERVICE TECHNICIAN:  JOB DESCRIPTION and REQUIREMENTS 

Primarily responsible for performing repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including: air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic and semi hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, and a variety of IAQ products and humidifiers.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  1. Understands basic refrigeration cycle to include: identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using digital manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation and charging.
  2. Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
  3. Understands the process of treating air so as to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, and distribution. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
  4. Understands basic heating cycle to include: identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands the theory of combustion and how it relates to combustible fuels such as LPG and Natural Gas

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Our Technicians must be able to repair, adjust, maintain and troubleshoot the following equipment:

  1. Refrigerant related issues
  2. Hermetic and Semi Hermetic Compressors
  3. Split systems, gas, electric, and heat pumps
  4. Packaged units
  5. Ductless splits
  6. Electric Motors (3-phase and 1-phase)
  7. Control voltage (contactors, starters, relays, thermostats, etc.)
  8. Gas fired furnaces
  9. Intake and exhaust fans
  10. Economizers
  11. Humidifiers

Our Technicians must be able to proficiently perform the following tasks

  1. Soldering
  2. Brazing
  3. Basic Manual J, Manual D Load calculations

 

ESSENTIAL DAILY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Utilize technology such as iPhones and other Digital Devices
  2. Report to Client Care after job completion, and communicate effectively in digital reports.
  3. During and at the end of each task complete all company provided documents.
  4. Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day.
  5. Follow a process (which will be taught before we assign any calls.)
  6. Obtain client signature on company provided forms where applicable.
  7. Upon completion of each task record time spent at each job on the weekly time sheet.
  8. Communicate with parts providers regarding parts needs, ordering parts and proper processing of warranty parts
  9. Ensure all vendor packing slips or invoices for each job are secured to the related job forms.
  10. Ensure all materials used for each task are listed properly on the company provided forms.
  11. Assist on job sites with other co workers as needed.
  12. Answer all office pages/calls within a 15 minute time frame
  13. Check in as needed to ensure office dispatcher and/or field supervisor are aware of your status.
  14. Invest in good , name brand testing and hand tools, maintain hand tools and an organized tool bag storage
  15. Properly quote repairs needed in the field, and fill out the appropriate quote forms as required.
  16. Consult field supervisor or dispatcher in times of uncertainty.

 

ESSENTIAL OVERALL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Must be able to build client loyalty for the company.
  2. Provide information to management on training needs and courses of interest.
  3. Responsible for the daily preparation of the parts and tools for each day's activities.
  4. Complete work in a timely manner.
  5. Coordinate with dispatcher for the use of company tools and ensure they are returned to the office in a timely manner.
  6. Participate in company-wide internal meetings as required.
  7. Maintain company tools in a professional manner.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
  2. Must have EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification
  3. Preferred:  Associate's Degree OR be in the final semester in a local HVAC Trade Program
  4. Preferred:  2 years experience

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Logistical knowledge of surrounding areas.
  2. Must have a Valid Texas Drivers License, Social Security Card and Speak fluent English.
  3. Must be felony free and clean driving record
  4. On-call and overtime hours as needed
  5. Good hygiene and cleanliness is required at all times
  6. Must adhere to the company uniform policy
  7. Maintain a clean vehicle and make office aware of maintenance issues
  8. Follow rules and regulations as described in the company Handbook
  9. We are a drug and tobacco free company. If you smoke or dip, we require this activity to be done after your shift end's. This is strictly enforced. 
  10. Tattoo's to the face or neck are not allowed. If your tattoos are gang related you will be disqualified from any interview possibility. We prefer professional clean cut appearance and we random test often for the use of illegal drugs.
