EpicMix Race Lead is a full-time seasonal position who's primary focus will be on the EpicMix Racing venue.  This includes but is not limited to set-up/tear down of all aspects of the venue, and being part of and leading in all of the day to day operations of EpicMix Race.  The EMR Lead works closely with the department supervisor and manager to provide a safe, fun, and efficient public race venue. 

 

Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Course setting, safety equipment set-up, and timing set up
  • Act as EpicMix Race Pro- run EMR courses daily to set Pro time
  • Do one of the 3 main jobs at EMR daily- Point of Sale, Scanning, and or Timing/Announcing
  • Coordination with internal and external contacts
  • Maintenance of EMR race venue-slipping, raking, shoveling, gate and safety equipment repairs
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, often while skiing/snowboarding 
  • Shovel snow on a regular basis
  • Provide great customer service to all of our guests
  • Assist with other department activities as requested
  • Maintain and organize on-hill equipment in a professional manner with an emphasis on safety and guest service
  • Assist Event/Race departments with other events at the resort
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling with department supervisor and/or manager
  • Provide Feedback to manager regarding performance 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Expert skiing/snowboarding experience including racing experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language 
  • Basic computer skills
  • Some nighttime work and the ability to work safely on and around machinery and scaffolding at all hours
  • Long hours outdoors in the elements in the service of racing and event production

 

 Preferred Skills:

 

  • In person interview
  • Familiarity and experience with all uses of power and hand tools
  • Ability to operate on-snow machinery: Snowmobiles, snow blowers, and perhaps snow cats
  • Previous resort experience
  • Previous experience working with another race department or event production crew
  • Strong communication and guest relations skills
  • USSA certifications 
  • Previous experience setting ski/snowboard race courses
  • Knowledge of Timing equipment and associated software
  • Knowledge of proper installation of safety equipment and venue closures
  • Previous lead/supervisory experience
  • Previous racing or event background
