Job Summary:

The Assistant Buyer will partner with the Buyer to strategically build product assortments which grow the business and work in a way that align with the company’s strategic goals.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Aids Buyer in developing assortment and writing POs
  • Assist Buyer with Company and vendor meeting preparation
  • Facilitates vendor set-up
  • Manage sample process
  • Support buyer in identifying business opportunities
  • React quickly and decisively to business opportunities to achieve and consistently maintain positive comp sales growth and increased comp margin
  • Actively participate in negotiations with Buyer
  • Assist Buyer in collection of trend data
  • Maintain electronic photo files
  • Comp shop and recap results
  • Creatively use trend data to apply to business
  • Understands and clearly communicate to vendor partners the guidelines of the ticketing and domestic/import shipping manuals
  • Work with Buyer to manage inventory and identify risks in assortment
  • Lead by example through use of “At Home” 5 Key Values


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 1-2 years prior experience
  • Familiarity with retail math including, sales margin and turn
  • Understanding of Open to Buy and implications of shrink
  • Demonstrates analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to develop/maintain strong working relationship with peers and cross-functional teams
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Possesses a clear understanding of the target customer, supplier base and competitors
  • Able to work in fast paced environment, multi-task, organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
