Major Responsibilities

 

Reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager (BUM) the Shift Leader (SL) is a “servant leader” responsible for engaging, coaching and guiding operations & maintenance direct reports and hourly technicians in the execution of loss eradiation and operations/maintenance plans to deliver the SQCDSM metrics for assigned area.  The Shift Leader is responsible for driving the IL6S process to include the Progressive Maintenance (PM) to Autonomous Maintenance (AM) knowledge transfer and accurate and timely Daily Management System (DMS) process administration.  Direct reports include equipment owners and Shift Technicians of assigned area.

Working Relationships

 

Reports directly to the Business Unit Manager with strong interface with the Maintenance Leader, Area Process Engineer, Process Maintenance Technicians and Shift Technicians.Provides leadership in the execution of operations and maintenance plans of assigned area through Process Maintenance Technicians (PMTs) and Control Specialists focusing the operational priorities for Shift Technicians (Mechanical/Electrical) & equipment owners of assigned areas.

 

Essential Functions

 

Responsible for colleague compliance with all safety, quality, GMP and Human Resources policies and procedures – building Safety First, Quality Always culture

Directs priority execution of actions for operations/maintenance loss eradication to deliver the SQCDSM metrics for assigned area

Accountable for assessing performance of direct reports (equipment owners and shift technicians) and provide formal feedback on PMTs, ML, Control Specialist and core team members

Leads and/or participates in IL6S RCAs, SGAs, and Kaizen activity interacting with all levels of the organization

Communicates direction to primary and secondary reports and works closely with business partners to include function team members, IL6S Pillar members and outside contractors

Accountable for execution of relevant projects within assigned areas

Responsible for assessing, collaborating and making decisions on operational & maintenance issues of assigned area

Maintains a level of understanding of equipment functionality for assigned area

Works closely with IL6S Pillars to ensure colleague capabilities are in line with skills matrix requirements and colleagues are trained/cross-trained for specific assignments

Responsible for labor management payroll administration and controls

Responsible for understanding and using SAP 6.0 and other associated Maintenance software

Ensures adherence to all standard work processes

Responsible for supporting talent management process for direct reports and provides feedback for core team membe

Ensures that basic training modules are assigned and executed correctly with PM staff and enables PM to train AM in assigned modules, interfaces with E&T to execute capability improvement in PM to enable knowledge transfer from PM to AM

Coaches, motivates and support the team to ensure information flow, colleague development, problem solving, goal setting, and process improvements are completed within expectationAccountable for performance management issues working closely with  BUM, ML, M&R Leader and Maintenance Manager


Qualifications


High School Diploma or Equivalent - 2 year college degree preferre

3-5 year’ leadership experience in manufacturing – food/pharma industry preferred

Experience with TPM, 5s, and Integrated Lean 6 tools and concepts

Computer proficiency (MS, WORD, Excel)

Excellent communication (verbal & written)

Time management skills

Available to work flexible hours and days as needed to support the business

Knowledge of industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment

Project management skills

Basic financial & business understanding

Strong analytical & math skills

Maintenance background/experience a plus

Cross functional knowledge and awareness a plus
