About this job

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver a solution on how to efficiently determine near term capacity and routing for over 7000 In-Home technicians.
  • Oversee the development of analytical tools and algorithms used to optimize all Sears In-Home routing and capacity needs.
  • Develop long-term statistical forecasting models for routing and capacity needs.
  • Provide business analysis using mathematical modeling tools to answer critical business questions.
  • Build quantitative mathematical models to represent capacity needs, long term forecasting plans, transportation and logistics systems.
  • Implement models and tools through mathematical modeling and by engineering code in software languages such as Java, Python, and SQL on Linux and Unix operations systems.
  • Apply theories of mathematical optimization, including linear programming, combinatorial optimization, integer programming, dynamic programming, stochastic programming, and network flows and other algorithms to design optimal or near optimal solution methodologies to be used by the in-house decision support tools and software.
  • Apply probability theory, statistics, simulation, and stochastic modeling methodologies to model uncertainty in operational systems; use mathematical models to make business decisions that are robust to uncertainty and test out new proposed solutions (sensitivity analysis or scenario analysis).
  • Create software prototypes to verify and validate the devised solutions methodologies; integrate the prototypes into production systems using standard software development tools and methodologies.
  • Effectively communicate with senior management as well as with colleagues from computer science, operations research, and business backgrounds.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science or related engineering field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience developing big data infrastructure and analytics or, alternatively, a Master's degree and eight (8) years of experience as noted above or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of experience as noted above.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ('DE') developing analytical strategies and data transformations for Big Data within a direct to consumer services company environment, and developing algorithms and advanced research modules;
  • DE performing data mining, extraction and analytics from large data warehouses, applying optimization models for business decision support, and applying machine learning algorithms to find business-critical patterns in operational data;
  • DE gathering stake holder requirements, and designing processes and methodologies to perform big data analytics (including business intelligence and decision support) using disparate and heterogeneous data sources to support business decisions;
  • DE mining big data sources to support development of predictive models including creating statistical algorithms to perform logistic regression, build neural network, grow random forests, estimate mixed models, conduct clustering analysis, using parametric and non-parametric techniques for large customer behavioral and transactional data sets using R, RStudio, SAS, Hadoop, Hive, PostgreSQL, and BI tools, including Tableau, Qlikview, and SAS Enterprise Miner.
