About this job

Position Summary:

Performs front and back office duties to deliver quality patient care, including providing direct patient care under the direction of a physician, providing care coordination through scheduling, charge capture, supply management, and equipment maintenance, and providing outstanding customer service to patients, physicians, Health System staff, and other professionals.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Prepares patient for examination

2. Note brief history of reason for visit in patient's chart

3. Assist the clinical staff in completing examination and procedures as instructed

4. Completely fill out lab slips and other forms, when necessary

5. Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients

6.Assist the medical staff in patient education

7.Under the direction of the nurse or provider in charge, take responsibility of medical supplies and cleaning of the medical instruments and equipment

8.Obtain laboratory samples and complete paper work as ordered by the provider

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Level

High School Diploma/GED -- Required.

Completion of Medical Assistant Training Program -- Preferred.

Licensure/Certification

BLS

Certified Medical Assistant from a national recognized program

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Equipment skills: Blood glucose monitor; non-invasive blood pressure; wheelchair; centrifuge; thermometer -- tympanic and oral; pulse oximeter; computer

Experience

Two (2) years of relevant experience
