Job Summary:
Preparation of laboratory specimens for microscopic evaluation by the pathologist through the use of Microtomy, Histochemistry, special staining and other appropriate techniques.
Minimum Education:
* Associate's degree in relevant science and or one year of on-the-job training with five years of experience preferred.
Minimum Work Experience:
* Six months of histology laboratory training preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
* HT(ASCP), HT(NCA), or equivalent registry and meets CMS and GDHR requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Excellent verbal communication in person and on telephone
* Excellent written communication
* Read, write, understand communicate clearly in English
* Use a computer for clinical data entry/retrieval
* Organize and prioritize work, act independently
* Work collaboratively with others in a complex healthcare setting
* Partners with physicians
