Job Overview:
The Strategic Procurement team at Macy’s is responsible for collaboratively developing and implementing non-merchandise spend management strategies in support of Macy’s Inc.’s overall corporate strategy and the company’s focus on ongoing profit improvement. The Strategic Procurement team is responsible for sourcing, procurement, vendor diversity, spend analytics, and travel management. Evolution of the Strategic Procurement capability is a priority for Macy’s and we continue to seek top talent in support of this objective.

The Strategic Procurement Center of Excellence is responsible for developing, deploying, and engraining best practices throughout the organization related to spend analytics, sourcing and procurement processes, spend and vendor management (including demand management and process re-engineering to obtain greater value from our indirect spend), Strategic Procurement-related reporting, and savings tracking. The CoE is also responsible for supporting governance and program management of the Company’s value creation initiatives for indirect spend. The Strategic Procurement Center of Excellence team will take a consultative approach to supporting not only the Strategic Procurement team, but also stakeholders in Finance and business teams across the enterprise.

Reporting to the Director, the Sr. Analyst will ensure operational excellence in the Strategic Procurement function (Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Operations, and Supplier Diversity). The Sr. Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert on a variety of systems and data, which serve as enablers to the Strategic Procurement organization and to stakeholders across the business. The Sr. Analyst will also be responsible for administrative functions related to systems owned by the Center of Excellence (e.g., sourcing platform, spend analytics system).

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain the sourcing platform. Develop standard templates and training. Support sourcing Directors and Managers running events. Support vendors during events. Manage access and permissions.
  • Work with Center of Excellence Managers and the Technology function to maintain the spend analytics platform. Assist with access and permissions, creation, configuration, and deployment of dashboards, and reporting. Oversee data quality and maintenance by Strategic Sourcing and Category Management teams.
  • Maintain sourcing, category management, and operational processes, templates, and best practices for sourcing, category management, vendor management, process mapping, benchmarking, category research, commodity tracking, etc.
  • Analyze and identify savings opportunities from spend analytics, including development of reporting needs from MFA and multiple data sources. Source and analyze data from EP, non-purchase order invoice payments, purchasing card, capital and all internal support systems.
  • Work closely with Technology partners and vendors to implement, maintain, and enhance Strategic Procurement systems including sourcing, spend analytics, contract management, and forecasting and purchasing tools .
  • Report against departmental objectives and results including setting savings goals and tracking savings achieved.
  • Help administer company policies including sourcing policies, purchasing policies, and contract management policies.


Qualifications:
Education/Experience
  • BA/BS Degree
  • Experience in Consulting, Strategic Procurement, or related fields, ideally with relevant experience in project management, process re-engineering, and data-driven decision making is preferred
  • Experience with spend analytics and sourcing systems; experience with Ariba sourcing is preferred; experience with Oracle is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; experience in programming or other software (specifically data platforms like Tableau) a plus

Communication Skills
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (oral, written and listening) for a variety of audiences (senior executives to analysts)

Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to understand, organize and synthesize information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work independently and a track record of proactive work against a set of goals
