Quality restaurant Concepts LLC (QRC) is an Applebee’s franchise with 60 restaurants located throughout the Southeast. The two franchise owners; Fred Gustin and the late, Glenn (Blackie) Durham opened their first Applebee’s restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama in 1988. They developed 10 additional Applebee’s throughout Alabama over the next 10 years, under the franchise name Applebee’s of North Alabama. In 1998 Fred and Blackie purchased 26 Applebee’s Restaurants throughout the states of TN, MS, and GA. At that time the name of the company was changed to Quality Restaurant Concepts to reflect the immediate geographical expansion.

Job Description

Director of HR for QRC will lead the organization to attract, retain and develop “Noticeably Better” talent in the restaurant industry. This qualified individual will set the pace for QRC with progressive Human Resource Strategies to foster healthy employee relations, strict compliance with state and federal regulations, people development and succession planning as well as company performance management. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Specific accountabilities

 

  • Develops and implements human resources strategies and procedures throughout the organization.
  • Establishes and monitors HR programs designed to attract, retain, reward, and develop a qualified workforce.
  • Provides human resources guidance to the leadership team, support team, and field operations.
  • Contributes to HR annual planning process by creating strategic and tactical plans to support organizational goals and objectives.
  • Performs other responsibilities as needed.

Skills and Requirements

  • Four Year Degree in HR, Business or related field preferred
  • Five years of human resources experience including management experience
  • Strategic perspective and demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and develop fact-based solutions
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal laws, regulations and policies regarding employment law.
  • Proven capabilities in incorporating/ implementing complex change initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations and employment litigation issues
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of benefit and compensation programs
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to achieve results through others
  • Proven results in the areas of staffing, retention and turnover
  • SHRM Professional HR Certification preferred.
