Position Summary
In collaboration with the healthcare team, coordinates and prioritizes patient, physician and staff needs. The key essential job functions of this role include customer focus and patient experience, coordination of provider-entered orders, communication, and time management.
Minimum Education Requirements
* High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Requirements
* CNA experience preferred
* Medical Terminology, clerical skills, related experience preferred
* Proficient in basic computer skills
License/Certifications
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
* Current Colorado C.N.A. license
Position Duties (Essential Functions)
PATIENT CARE - 40%
* Delivers quality patient care as directed by the RN to provide safe and effective patient care including comfort and hygiene measures, safety measures, transportation and nutritional tasks within hospital and/or department guidelines. Performs a variety of technical tasks which include set up of equipment, incentive spirometry, foley care, glucometer, pulse oximeter, s, specimen collection, and ambulation. Accurately and in a timely manner, reports patient status changes and needs to RN. Accurately charts patient documentation to include vital signs, I & O, percentage of meals taken, personal hygiene, weights and other procedures performed and reports findings promptly to RN.
COORDINATION OF PROVIDER ENTERED ORDERS - 20%
* Monitors the electronic record for new provider-entered orders, coordinating the completion of the orders with nursing staff and other departments as appropriate. Competently utilizes computer technology to access and exchange data (i.e. lab results, interdepartmental communications). Maintains non-EMR patient records as needed to ensure availability of accurate patient information. Ability to use critical thinking skills competently in order to handle multiple tasks and fluctuating volumes.
CUSTOMER FOCUS - 20%
* Welcomes and greets patients/visitors. Directs/escorts customer to desired location. Triages patient call lights in a timely manner. Communicates with patient, family members, visitors, physicians and associates in a competent, caring manner. Actively participates in the creation and maintenance of a positive patient experience. May be tasked with conducting patient rounds throughout the shift, asking if patients/visitors have needs; orienting all to the unit and patient room.
COMMUNCATION - 10%
* Proactively identifies and communicates clearly with all members of the team to ensure that everyone remains informed of tests, procedures, messages, new orders and needs of patients. Effectively communicates with medical staff, nursing and other associates to ensure that timely care is delivered.
TIME MANAGEMENT - 10%
* Independently prioritizes tasks and maintains an uncluttered work environment. Maintains adequate supplies. Input of daily and special charges when required. Maintains/updates unit logs in timely manner. Filing, logging, copying, scanning, reporting and other clerical duties as required. Coordinates services from maintenance and other service departments as needed. Orients/precepts new staff as requested.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly.
