The Dir, Protection Agreement/Service Underwriting & Analysis is responsible for the underwriting function for Protection Agreements and Service Contracts in Home Services. This position supports the Protection Business and Sears Home Services through broad-based business reporting and analysis, including fulfillment cost development and forecasting, service incidence rate analysis, underwriting and profitability analysis. Additionally, this position is an integral part of cross-functional business teams in business development projects that span across the entire Home Services portfolio. The position will directly manage a small team of managers/analysts.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

*Determines protection product cost via accepted actuarial processes. Discovers and projects fulfillment costs using comprehensive data analysis, competitive information, market trend information and field input, including extensive interaction with Product Development, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Sales. Engineering, and Product Buyers
*Designs, implements and refines price and cost models
*Provides recommendations to the design, implementation of price and feature offerings
*Manages Protection Agreement projects that extend beyond the scope of the current business portfolio
*Interacts with Home Services Finance to review and forecast Protection Agreement service call and other expense trends
*Monitors and manages key aspects of the portfolio, occasionally presenting reviews to senior management and other business partners
*Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.

Job Requirements:

*Advanced skills in costing and actuarial analysis
*Experience in underwriting analysis, preferably in the warranty/extended warranty industry
*Ability to communicate one-on-one and in large or small groups
*Effective problem resolution skills
*Project management capabilities
*Ability to generate alternative solutions when faced with a problem
*Ability to work with minimal supervision
*Proficient skill in computer systems and software applications
*Ability to work productively and effectively when faced with stressful situations, including effective interactions with others under stressful working conditions
*Ability to utilize reports as needed
*Ability to constructively engage business partners and affect change through persuasion and logic
*Leadership skills
*Superior presentation skills (both oral and written)
*Microsoft computer skills, including Word, Excel, Project, Access, and Business Objects
