Commercial Patient Account Rep - Commercial
POSITION SUMMARY
The Patient Account Representative I is responsible for Commercial Account Receivable (A/R) follow up for both contracted payers and non-contracted for payments maintaining A/R over 60 days to ensure the accounts do not exceed the companies corporate policy.
This individual also serves as facility representative in communication with patient and insurance companies concerning facility charges. The Patient Account Representative I.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of A/R follow experience preferably in a Hospital setting.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Minimum of two (2) years A/R follow up work experience to include medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT codes or equivalent is required. Patient Account Representative I must have knowledge of facility billing office procedures and insurance billing and collections. Word processing skills of 45 wpm, 10-key by touch and computer experience is necessary as well as a basic understanding of accounting practices. Patient Account Representative I must be able to analyze patient accounts to determine accuracy of balances to ensure correct payment and adjustments have been applied. Prepare refunds, adjustments, appeals, and re-billing when needed. Additionally they must be able to read and interpret UB04’s, 1500’s, Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial RA’s.
