Position Summary: The Physician Assistant Studies Program Director will have responsibility for all facets of development and ongoing leadership for a new Physician Assistant Studies master's degree program. The program is being developed by the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences, within the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minn., and is planned for a fall 2020 launch.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities of this position include: provide effective leadership and management to the Physician Assistant Studies program; manage the quality and outcomes of the program; maintain program accreditation by ARC-PA; submit all required reports to the ARC-PA, select and supervise approximately 5 full-time equivalent faculty members; mentor faculty and promote scholarly work; teach in the program and manage faculty workload; provide oversight of the curriculum and perform assessment of the curriculum and associated program outcomes; manage recruitment, selection and retention of students; mentor students and monitor student performance; manage program finances; maintain all program records, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders within the School and Mayo Clinic, as well as with university collaborators and clinical training sites. Finally, the role may include providing healthcare services as a practicing PA within Mayo Clinic on a limited and negotiable basis, not to exceed .2 FTE.

Qualifications: Must be an NCCPA-certified physician assistant (master's degree) who is eligible for PA licensure by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Must have experience in teaching physician assistants. Must have a minimum of three years practice (patient care) experience as a physician assistant. Candidate must also have demonstrated management experience, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and be competent with Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of ARC-PA Accreditation Standards is necessary.

Additional Qualifications: A doctorate degree is preferred. Knowledge and experience with adult education, online learning, interprofessional education, and simulation in healthcare education is preferred. Prior leadership experience within a physician assistant program is preferred. Proficient with scholarly research, and will have published in the profession. Experience working with undergraduate students and working in highly collaborative environments is a plus.

License or Certification: Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.

Hold or attain Physician Assistant licensure from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approximately $4,328.00, based on a full-time position.
