Job Title: Perishable Manager- Food Lion

Position Summary:

Responsible for Meat, Frozen Food, Dairy and Ice Cream operations, making decisions impacting store associates, merchandise presentation and the level of service offered to our customers. Ensure conditions involving security, safety and food safety are consistently maintained at the highest levels. Ensures that Food Lion service standards are met. Responsible for sales, profits and associates of the Meat, Frozen Food, Dairy and Ice Cream departments. Responsible for maintaining standards according to the Meat, Frozen Food, Dairy and Ice Cream Standard Practices, maximizing sales by providing extraordinary customer service and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of Standard Practices. Serve as a role model for customer service and other vital behaviors, and instill this value in all associates. Serves as MOD in the absence of the Store Manager.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

* Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results for Meat, Frozen, Dairy and Ice Cream

* Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of all Perishable Department Associates as assigned by management.

* Implements and follows up on training necessary to comply with regulations and policy as noted in Company Policies and the Standard Practice Manual.

* Makes effective and objective decisions regarding task priorities, utilization of supplies, budgets and equipment use and other situations where multiple factors are considered and weighed to maximize performance, productivity and results.

* Ability to supervise a fast paced environment and multiple functions for extended periods of time during a scheduled shift.

* Ability to use the In-Store Computer, headquarters applications and IBM systems including but not limited to Windows applications, wireless hand held units and email.

* Ensures Perishable associate schedules are written to provide extraordinary customer service at all times, especially during peak sales hours, break times, lunches, special events and holidays.

* Maintains an efficient and productive Perishable department (s) operation.

* Maintains a total understanding of the Meat/Frozen/Dairy and Ice Cream Standard Practices.

* Has a complete understanding of scheduling, sales, projections, wage percents, interviewing, hiring, training, company information, and all other items deemed necessary to manage the Perishable departments

* Understands and follows Food Safety guidelines and procedures.

* Ensures that all advertising and sales promotion materials applicable to the department are properly utilized.

* Observes and corrects all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents (e.g. broken equipment or fixtures, cases stacked improperly, refrigeration cases leaking, etc.).

* Records and reports all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures.

* Cooperates to the fullest extent with the Store Manager in promoting increased sales and maintaining good associate relations within the store.

* Takes inventory of department merchandise as needed and conducts the physical inventory of all fresh Meat product on hand each period, Lunchmeat quarterly, and bi-annual inventory prep in Frozen/Dairy/Ice Cream

* Ability to perform and train all functions of the Perishable Associate job description

* Ensuring store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety and execution of all policies and procedures

* Serving as a model for customer service and other vital behaviors and instills this value in all associates

* Providing leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Food Lion's

* Guiding Principles, Core Values and Vision

* Maximizing sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through proper utilizationof Standard Practices

* Ensuring aisle conditions and presentation are maintained.

* Monitoring shrink and ensuring that inventory and moneys are accounted for; provides coaching for associates to recognize and prevent losses.

* Understanding and utilize Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS).

* Understanding and utilize Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)

* Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations

* Interacting constantly with associates; ensure associates understand Food Lion's expectations and have the tools and training to be successful

* Adhering to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.

* Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Aid courses

* Serves as Manager on Duty, performing all of the responsibilities of the Store Manager when he or she is not present, assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the day-to-day operations of the entire store

RequirementsBasic Qualifications:

* High School Graduate or equivalent

* Must have meat product knowledge (cut, quality, cooking methods, etc...)

* Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation.
