Overview

Diagnose, repair, and maintain all powered and non-powered equipment owned, leased, or operated by the company such as tractors and trailers. Ability to diagnose and make repairs to electronically or computer controlled vehicle systems, as well as mechanically controlled systems. Examples being: engines, brakes, clutches, 5th wheels, electrical system, driveline, suspension and steering systems, and motor vehicle air-conditioning systems

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to diagnose and make all types of repairs on equipment with electronic controlled or computerized systems within industry time standards.

Ability to diagnose and make all types of repairs on non electronically controlled systems such as engine, brake, drive train, electrical, steering, suspension, 5th wheel, and motor vehicle air conditioning repairs within industry time standards

Diagnose and repair complex performance problems using current technologies, such as Pro-Links and laptop computers.

Ability to read and interpret manufactures troubleshooting charts, schematics, to diagnose and repair all types of problems.

Meets company or industry time standards within job classification

Perform PMI's on tractors, trailers, and other equipment

Test drive all types of vehicles

Ensure work is performed within company, and industry safety guidelines

Train and assist other technicians in all of the above areas

Adhere to all safety policies, procedures and best practices while performing tasks in a manner that promotes safety at all times.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

This position has a flexible work schedule.

This position requires evening shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet Federal Department Of Transportation requirements for annual inspector qualifications and brake inspectors as set forth in CFR Title 49 Section 369.19 and section 396.25 respectively

Along with the ability to obtain the following within 12 months of hire date.

q New York State Inspection License for groups 1 and 2

q Class "A" CDL

q ASE Medium Heavy Truck Certification in PMI, Brakes, Diesel Engines

q EPA Section 609 Motor Vehicle Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certified

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.

One year certificate from college or technical school, with a minimum of 5 years experience.

Or ten years on the job experience and training.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, electrical schematics, and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
