Summary of Job: The Food & Beverage Team Lead is dedicated to ensuring an “Experience of a Lifetime” to guests and employees while providing quality food and beverages in a specific restaurant and throughout the resort. 

  • Lead front of the house food & beverage operations including daily communication with shift leads, line staff and Food & Beverage Director, ordering and inventory of packaged beverage products, and maintenance of facility.
  • Provide highest level of guest service in a high volume establishment while empowering other employees to provide the same experience.
  • Maintain daily operations by monitoring labor, staff interactions, and interdepartmental relationships.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Execute daily operations by opening and /or closing restaurants, including filling front-line employee positions as necessary, especially during non-peak periods.
  • Effectively manage all financial results including purchasing, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Operate outlet within budget guidelines, per Food & Beverage Director.
  • Lead and manage all front of the house Food & Beverage employees and Shift Leads, as well as having a strong working relationship with the Chef and his/her team.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, developing, scheduling, reviewing and disciplinary action for employees.
  • Participate in Vail Resorts Mountain Dining Best Practice groups, Food & Beverage Director weekly meetings, shift lead best practices including safety standards, and daily pre and post shift meetings with front line employees
  • Consistently follow the guidelines and steps of the services cycle as outlined in the brand standards.
  • Ensure direct reports adhere to uniform standards and are both professional and productive throughout their shift.
  • Responsible for various administrative duties such as conducting inventory, nightly reports and paperwork, as well as the completion of monthly Operational Reviews involving shift leads.
  • Develop vendor partnerships and relations to execute maximum efficiency.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally to staff and guests.  Respond and engage with customer suggestions, complaints and recognition.
  • Adhere to all policies, rules, regulations in both food service and alcohol management.
  • Create and maintain a productive, safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five plus years restaurant experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role – Required
  • Strong ability to train employees to set service standards.
  • Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required.
  • MS office and POS (IG) proficiency – Required.
  • Certified in TIPS and enforcement of Bartender's Code of Conduct and Serve Safe Manager Sanitation certificate.
  • Possess strong liquor and beer knowledge for training ability – Preferred
  • Certified Slip Resistant shoes are required prior to starting work. Shoes must be provided by the employee.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form including communicating on the mountain radio.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen areas and work with chefs/culinary programs to establish and maintain sanitization and food quality standards.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to ensure: teamwork, high level guest contact, fact finding for appropriate decision making, commitment to guest service and employee relations.
  • Must demonstrate ability to receive and give direction and act upon it.
