Job Description:

3M is seeking an experienced Specialist in Manufacturing Technology for the Food Safety Department located in Maplewood, MN.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Technology Specialist will initiate, direct, and lead major technical/automation projects in a manufacturing environment or a specific technology cluster, while maintaining an appreciation and awareness of any and all potential global effects. They will take responsibility for the leadership and coordination of important manufacturing or business cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Lead new product introduction programs, LEAN Six Sigma continuous improvement programs (cost reduction, productivity improvements, etc.), and process improvement programs to drive measureable improvements in business results.

* Implement new technologies and processes to commercialize new products. Implement innovative solutions to solve process problems and realize opportunities (quality, service, cost).

* Determine best path forward when presented with ambiguous process or product development situations and lead the team to a positive result.

* Support manufacturing (mfg) sites to achieve operational excellence targets through process optimization and automation. Serve as a liaison between mfg sites and corporate laboratories.

* Willingness to be on-call in the event of severe process problems.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline from an accredited institution

* Minimum of five (5) years of experience with one or more of the following areas: commercializing new products, developing new manufacturing processes, and/or improving existing manufacturing processes through automation

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Biochemistry, or Organic Chemistry

* Experience in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Spectroscopy

* Previous Health Care or Medical Device industry experience

* Skills include superior communication/presentation skills. Works well in a team environment

Location: Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic and international travel
