Position Summary:

The Import Specialist will coordinate the cycle of an international purchase order through the entire Supply Chain process, making sure that all is in compliance with Burlington’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Review and approve purchase orders; contact internal and external business partners for extra information as required.
  • Ensure shipping documents are in good order and match the purchase order and Letter of Credit before Broker submits entry. Ensure Customs entries are complete and with accurate HTS# and dutiable amount
  • Maintain an effective and efficient flow of import orders to include compliance with policies and procedures including necessary testing and audits.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of Customs import shipment requirements, rules, bans, regulation of Customs Harmonized Tariff Schedules, FDA, CPSIA, APHIS, etc.
  • Review and validate Import transaction file as well as maintain record keeping in Excel spreadsheets and related databases
  • Process Letter of Credit applications and amendments in a timely matter.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager.

Education:
  • Associate degree or higher, preferably in international business. Five years of direct experience in lieu of Associate Degree
Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant academic training or three years comparable experience.
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment.
  • Basic knowedge of merchandise classification and Customs compliance.
  • Computer related order entry skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Self motivated, detail oriented, team player with a can-do attitude, who has the desire to succeed.
